Below is a detailed description of our general intake process. Each program and family are unique and will have slightly varying intake processes.
The Intake Process
Knowing what's up ahead
- The Documents: Parents and guardians will gather all documentation related to their child’s needs prior to the intake interview. A list of suggested items will be provided to you but some relevant documents include a copy of your child’s diagnosis, an Individualized Education Plan(IEP) if there is one, and any evaluations conducted by SLP, OT, or PT. With this information our BCBAs can become familiar with the specific needs of your child.
- The Interview: The intake interview is a service intended to benefit both Anchor ABA and your family as you make the important decisions to choose an ABA provider. The whole family is required to be present at this interview. Registration paperwork will be collected at this time and/or provided to you and collected at the end of the visit. The intake is conducted by the BCBA and will be a semi-structured interview and hands on skills assessments to see how your child responds. An intake can take any where between 1.5-3 hours.
- During the intake , funding will be discussed. You may choose to pay privately for services or utilize private insurances or other funding sources. At our funding meeting we will discuss the price of services and establishing the funding source.
- Authorization and Programming: While we wait to ensure funding sources are established your BCBA will start to build your child's program, discuss a schedule that works best for both parties, and will schedule 1-2 more visits to establish rapport with your child and family.
- The Start Up: Once the team has been established, your BCBA will schedule a start-up meeting with your family and all team members. At this meeting introductions will be made, and you will get the program overview of the basics of ABA. Materials will be brought to your home as well as a work space will be identified within your home. The BCBA will go over the schedule for the team and family, and the starting date will be established.
- Start of Service: All intakes vary based on individual family needs and funding sources. Anchor ABA will remain vigilant to keep their families up to date on the status of their intake.
